Rapunzel: What if it’s not everything I dreamed it would be?
Flynn: It will be.
Rapunzel: And what if it is? What do I do then?
Flynn: Well, that’s the good part, I guess. You get to go find a new dream.
Heyyyyy! Let’s begin this section with a review of one of the most adorable and loved movies of all time, Tangled! Already having a definite edge by being a Disney product, Tangled is close to our hearts because it brings to life one of our favorite childhood classic tale, the story of Rapunzel. If you haven’t watched this already, we suggest that you do so immediately, since it must be on everyone’s ‘must watch’ list and will surely jump to everyone’s ‘favorite movies’ list.
Abducted from the royal palace by an evil, yearning-to-be-eternally-young-and-beautiful lady Gothel, Rapunzel is kept isolated in a secluded tower for 18 years of her life. Since cutting her hair makes it lose the magical healing properties it possesses, Rapunzel’s hair is never allowed to be cut, giving her super long locks of hair which has been portrayed beautifully in the movie.

With a chameleon as her only true companion, Rapunzel takes to painting to while away her time, and yearns to see the lanterns which appear on her birthday every year, unaware that the King and Queen release them in the hopes of finding their princess. This wish is objected by Gothel who convinces her that the outside world is evil and dangerous for her.

Meanwhile, a thief named Flynn Rider steals the princess’s crown from the palace, and stumbles upon Rapunzel’s tower while trying to escape from the palace guards and his fellow thieves, the Stabbington brothers. Rapunzel seizes the crown from Flynn, and seizes this opportunity to get out from her tower. A reluctant Flynn agrees to take her to see the lanterns in exchange for the crown’s return.

The storyline of the movie follows Rapunzel and Flynn’s hilarious yet endearing journey in the dangerous outside world, with a lot of action, comedy, twists and turns, and moments that make you go ‘aww’. One character definitely worth a mention is the royal horse Maximus, aka Max. His sass is on a whole other level, and a lot is portrayed just through his actions and expressions that we can’t help but fall in love with him! His relationship with Flynn is akin to everyone’s favorite, Tom and Jerry! Another honorable mention is definitely Rapunzel’s frying pan, which she initially uses for self-defense against Flynn, and later Rapunzel and Flynn use as a weapon to help get them out of tight situations. The moment when Flynn wields the frying pan successfully, and says “Oh mama! I got to get me one of these !!” is a personal favorite. Rapunzel charming a whole gang of thugs at a bar named “The Snuggly Duckling”, their encounters with and escapades from Max and other royal guards, them being stuck in a flooding cave where Flynn reveals his true name: Eugene to Rapunzel, Rapunzel’s glowing hair helping them escape yet again, their rollercoaster turn of events with the Stabbington brothers and with Gothel, all these are part and parcel of Tangled as we follow Rapunzel’s expedition to see her lanterns.

They overcome all obstacles, arrange truces and finally reach the city on time. There is a festive air in the capital, with everyone singing and dancing, and preparing for the big night ahead. A totally adorable scene here is four little girls braiding Rapunzel’s hair and decorating it with pretty flowers, a scene definitely drool-worthy!

Darkness falls, and Flynn finally takes Rapunzel out onto the lake, in a boat, to see the lanterns she has been dreaming about. This scene is nothing short of magnificent. The awe and happiness in her eyes as they finally see what they’ve been dreaming about since years makes you feel happy for her from the bottom of your heart. At this point, Rapunzel and Flynn, aka Eugene, realize they’ve fallen in love. Yippee!

But alas, their blissful moment is cut short by the Stabbington brothers catching up with Flynn, and Rapunzel being taken back to her tower by Gothel. As Rapunzel realizes that she’s the long-lost princess and confronts Gothel, Flynn is captured by the royal guards and is sentenced to die. Saved by the friendly thugs from The Snuggly Duckling, Flynn is carried to Rapunzel’s tower by none other than Max, where he finds that she is held captive by Gothel. After much struggle and fight in which Flynn is fatally injured, he cuts off Rapunzel’s hair which causes Gothel’s age to catch up with her which crumbles and kills her. As Rapunzel cries over losing Eugene, she discovers that her tears hold the same magical properties as well. It’s all smiles as Rapunzel revives Eugene, reunites with her parents and returns to her rightful home and life, and eventually marries Eugene.
